Associate Professor Yael Perry, BPsych(Hons), MPsych(Clin), PhD
The Kids Research Institute Australia
A/Prof Yael Perry is Head of Youth Mental Health at The Kids Research Institute Australia and an adjunct Associate Professor at UWA and the Black Dog Institute, UNSW. She completed her Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at UNSW, and her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, under the supervision of Dr Aaron Beck.
Yael’s research is focused on the prevention of mental health difficulties in young people, with particular emphasis on marginalised youth (such as LGBTQA+ and Aboriginal young people) and their families. Yael takes a social ecological approach to her program of work, with the aim of understanding drivers of poor mental health across multiple levels (e.g., individual, family, service provider, society) and then co-designing and evaluating interventions and resources to address these drivers. She also has specialised expertise and interest in the use of digital technology to improve engagement, access and uptake of mental health interventions.
