Professor Zoe Wainer, BMBS, PhD, MPH, GAICD, FACHSM CHE, AFRACMA

Professor Wainer is Deputy Secretary for Community and Public Health, Victorian Department of Health. Zoe has previously held roles as Director of Clinical Governance and Head of Public Health at Bupa, and Chair of the Board of Dental Health Services Victoria. Zoe has expertise on the importance of sex and gender across health from discovery research, quality and safety, clinical guidelines and health systems implications. Zoe has expertise in health system innovation and design, through her work at local, state, national and international levels in value-based health care. She has worked in global health in are non-communicable disease control (including tobacco control), safe and appropriate use of pain relief (with the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime and the Australian Mission to Vienna) and cardiothoracic surgery.

Zoe holds a BMBS with a clinical background in cardiothoracic surgery and thoracic surgical oncology. She has a PhD and an MPH from The University of Melbourne, is a fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management, Associate Fellow the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is an Enterprise (Hon) Professor, University of Melbourne, and a member of Chief Executive Women.
